What do food banks, parades, therapeutic riding schools, children’s baseball teams, and thrift stores have in common? These are all places where you might have caught a glimpse of the Convoy Supply logo over this past year. Convoy Champions have been active in our communities over 2015, partnering with organizations to support children and some of our neighbours with specific needs. Time, money and products have all passed from Convoy employee hands with a desire to do our part as those needs cross our path.

MY House is one such story. A drop in centre for homeless youth in Mission, BC, MY House was built in response to the rising problem of vandalism and loitering among at-risk youth in the community. A number of community organizations joined together to open this home where youth can come for a hot meal, a shower, to do their laundry, and begin to develop relationships among caring adults who can offer support and access to community services.

Convoy learned about MY House when Rick Reynolds, Account Manager at Convoy Abbotsford, received a request from one of his customers saying that the community house was undergoing a reno and in desperate need of new siding. Leonard Mort, a sub-trade contractor for Gaultier Enterprises from Chilliwack, had offered to do the install for free and reached out to see if Convoy had any product to donate to the cause. The Abbotsford team delivered some discontinued siding to the site, that perfectly fit the bill for the reno. All in a day’s work for Convoy. You will hear all kinds of similar stories – Convoy joining with customers and suppliers to help meet a need in the community in ways that are simple to us, but profound for the people who receive the gift. On and off the clock, often in ways that go unseen, our generous-hearted champions are making a difference.
